John M. Hale, Sr., 87, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was an educator in the Chattanooga City School System. Later he served as principal at James A. Henry, Orchard Knob Elementary, Ridgedale Elementary, Howard Elementary and Northside Jr. High School.  

Mr. Hale was a member of First Baptist Church on East 8th Street, serving as a deacon, member of the Senior Choir, and Deacon President of the Ladies Guild.

Mr. Hale was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. 

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Hazel Hale.

Mr. Hale leaves to cherish his memory, the apple of his eye, his devoted and loving son, John M. Hale, Jr. and his supportive and caring daughter in law, Anisa; along with his grandchildren, John M. Hale, III and Jada N. Hale. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the John Hale, Sr. Memorial Fund, First Baptist Church, 506 E. 8th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.

A public viewing will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home. The Kappa Alpha Psi Memorial Service will be held privately.

Interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Highland Memorial Gardens.
