Dalton State tee'd it up for the first time in the 2020-21 season at the Scenic City Invitational at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn. The course showed its teeth on Monday with a scoring average of 78.02, but the Roadrunners (307 – 302 = 609) showed their talent and sit in 7th place at (+33) after two rounds of play.
UAB (296 – 295 = 591) and Little Rock (298 – 293 = 591) share the lead at (+15). Middle Tennessee State (299 – 295 = 594) and East Tennessee State (306 – 287 = 594) are tied for 3rd at (+18).
Chattanooga (308 – 290 = 598) rounds out the top 5 at (+22).
All-American Ben Rebne (73 – 69 = 142) paced the Birds and the field overall as one of only two players under par at (-2). He leads A.J. Lintunen from Chattanooga by 1-stroke heading to the final round tomorrow.
Matthew Cleary (77 – 76 = 153) is tied for 22nd at (+9) followed by freshman Trevor Bassett (75 – 82 = 157) at (+18) in a tie for 33rd. Tied for 39th with Blaine Calhoon of Central Arkansas is freshman Steve Kibare (82 – 76 = 158) at (+14).
Senior Eli Hendricks (84 – 81 = 165) and sophomore Tyler White (82 – 83 = 165) are tied for 53rd at (+21). Sophomore Joshua Stern (77 – 82 = 159), playing as an individual, is tied for 41st at (+15).
The Roadrunners have one more round remaining at the famed Honors Course. They will tee it up beginning at 9:17 a.m. off of No. 10 tomorrow, September 22.
