Evelyn Rose Free, age 88, a resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, in a Chattanooga health care facility.

Mrs. Free grew up in Polk County and she was the daughter of the late Irene Beard Rose and Winston Rose. Her husband, LaVern Free; son, Frankie Free; sister, Barbara Rose; and brother, Jay Rose, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Free sold real estate for a number of years and she served as manager for the Ocoee Village Apartments for more than 20 years. She was very active in her community and she was the first woman to serve on Polk County School Board. She enjoyed shopping and going for walks but most of all, she enjoyed being a grandmother and spending time with her family. Mrs. Free was a member of the Cloverleaf Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Free of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Justin Free and his wife Jessica, Jessica Free and her fiance Chris Saldana, Zane Holcomb and Greyson Free; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Goss and her husband Paul of Sharpsburg, Georgia, Shirley Bradly Poates of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Wilma Ball of Old Fort; brother, Larry Rose and his wife Cheryl of Charleston, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 1-2 p.m. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
