Rex Ray Peek, Sr., age 82, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Assisted Living.

He is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and reunited with his wife Thelma after 25 years. He was born Sept. 10, 1938 in Henagar, Al., a son of the Esmay and Ola Lou Wright Peek. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Robertson Peek; brothers, James Peek and Bobby Peek; and sister, Mary Teasley.

He was a member of the Chatsworth Church of God.

He is survived by his sons, daughters and their spouses, Ray and Anita Peek of Dalton, GA, Cindy and Pennie Peek of Tunnel Hill, GA, Nathan Peek , Bruce and Candy Peek, Linda Peek and Christa Silvers of Chatsworth, GA, Steve and Anna Peek of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Joshua and Allison Peek of Dalton, GA, Nicole Peek of Calhoun, GA, Justin and Amber Peek of Sandy Springs, GA, Jonathon and Haleigh Peek of Calhoun, GA, Mariah Peek of Chatsworth, GA, Jacob Peek of Calhoun, GA; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Taylor Peek, Brexleigh and Kaysleigh Peek, Mckinleigh Faber, and one great-grandson due shortly, Theodore Peek;  brother, Charles Peek of Tunnel Hill, GA; sister, Brenda McKinney of Dalton, GA; daughter-in-law, Charlene Totherow; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rex Ray Peek Sr. will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Edwards and Steve Peek officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff of Pleasant Valley Assisted Living for all their love and care of our dad and PawPaw. A special thank you to the Amedisys Hospice nurses and staff during his transition.

Due to the national health crisis and the COVID-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
