What's The Deal, Steve Highlander?

  • Saturday, January 23, 2021
While listening to the school board meeting on Thursday night, School Board Member Steve Highlander made a comment that he had been teaching all day. I was a little confused and started searching. It didn't take me long to find out that Highlander teaches at Ringgold High School.

So let me get this straight. He was teaching in person at a Georgia school, then came to Hamilton County and denied the wishes of a majority of parents in his district (70/30 according to his own statement) to reopen the schools for in person learning? This type of situation and mentality is part of what is wrong with our local school system.

Are his constituents aware of the fact that he's okay teaching in person for Georgia kids, but not allowing Hamilton County kids the same opportunity?

I certainly would want to know this information if he represented me at the Hamilton County School Board.
