William Hal “Bill” Burchfiel passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. A lifelong resident of Cleveland, he was born to the late Hal and Matilda Anna Burchfiel.
Bill was of the Baptist faith and attended Benton Station Baptist Church when he was able. He and his wife, Becky, traveled the United States in their camper, but loved the mountains near home, even purchasing some property in the mountains, where he rescued his beloved dogs, Tippy and Tiger. When their boys, Gene and Dean, were young, they saved their money hauling hay and bought Honda 90s and would ride them to the mountains and camp. He retired early from the Eaton Corporation and began to log with his son, Gene. He enjoyed any time that was spent with family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 69 years, Rebecca Turner Burchfiel; sons, Dean Burchfiel and Gene Burchfiel (Karen); grandsons, Tyler and Wesley Burchfiel (Jennifer); granddaughters, Mindy Martin (Skyler) and Gena Day (Cody); great-grandchildren, Cayley Day, Adeline and Seth Martin; sisters, Lorraine Robinson and Elaine Johnson; as well as several other family members.
The family is planning a graveside service to be held at Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Attn: Bill Cochran, P.O. Box 310, Benton, Tn. 37307.
