Jo Ann White Shoemake, 87, of Rossville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at a local hospital. 

 

Mrs. Shoemake was a lifelong resident of North Georgia where she attended elementary school at the Burning Bush School and she was a 1951 graduate of Rossville High School.  After high school she started working for Southern Bell/Bell South in Chattanooga and worked there for 35 years retiring in 1987.  Mrs. Shoemake was an active member of Burning Bush Baptist Church and attended Sunday School in the Class of One Accord.  She was also a longtime member of Battlefield Golf Club and the Chattanooga Women’s Golf Association.  Her passions in life were her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing golf, and traveling.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Jay Shoemake; parents, Al and Arlene White; and sister, Doris White Adams.

 

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ronald Shoemake; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Randy Whiting of Ringgold; brother, Sherrill (Shirley) White of Ringgold; grandchildren, Ross (Dallas) Whiting of La Grange, KY and Rachael (Dustin) Endinger of Chatsworth, Ga; great grandchildren, Case and Memphys Endinger and Cash and Stanford Shields; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Burning Bush Baptist Church Building Fund at 2195 Burning Bush Road Ringgold, Ga. 30736.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at noon at Burning Bush Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis McNulty and Reverend Billy Crystal officiating.  Mrs. Shoemake will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

 

Interment will follow in the Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, Ga.
