U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Retired From TVA And Was Lookout Valley's Santa Claus For Several Years

Edward Lynn “Skip” Meroney, 75, of Iuka, Mississippi, formerly of Lookout Valley, passed away on October 24, 2021.

He was a former employee of US Pipe and retired from TVA at the Sequoyah Nuclear Facility. He was a past member of Valley Memorial Baptist Church and most recently had attended Biggersville Pentecostal Church in MS. Skip was a former President of the Lookout Valley Lions Club and a Past Master of the Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge #673. Skip was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 203 and the American Legion. Skip also served as the Lookout Valley community Santa Claus for several years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Janet Plank, father Erby Meroney, mother Sarah Johnson Wright, step-father Walter “Tarzan” Wright, brothers Arnold Meroney and Steve Wright, sisters Mary Lee Harden and Patricia Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Meroney and his children, Tammy (Roy) Bunns, Bobby (Brittiany) Meroney, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and host of friends.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Friday, Oct. 29, at 12 p.m. at the Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 5-9 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
