James “Jamie” Hicks, 58, of Old Fort, departed this life on Friday, November 26, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1963, in Athens, Tennessee to the late Junior and June Jack Hicks. Throughout life, Jamie loved wood working, being outdoors and anything a part of the logging industry. He was of the Baptist faith and was a jack of all trades, willing to help anyone in need, regardless of the situation. Jamie loved spending time with his beloved family and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Junior and Jack Hicks, he was preceded in death by his grandchild; sisters, Kathy Hicks and Freda Hicks; paternal and maternal grandparents; and several uncles.
Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife of 40 years, Delores “Lois” Hicks; beloved children, Jennifer (Chad) Maxwell and David (Jami) Hicks; cherished grandchildren, Allie Maxwell, Matthew Maxwell, Tyler Hicks and Micah Hicks; one sister, Brenda (Johnny) Seay; and two special aunts, Robin Hicks and Ruth Hicks. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor David Hicks, Pastor Chad Maxwell and Pastor Carl Haulk officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens, with Matthew Maxwell, Tyler Hicks, Micah Hicks, Jose Gerena, Seth Gerena, Ethan Gerena, T.J. Hawkins and David Broglin serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
