Zollie B. Stiefel, 85, of Chattanooga died on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Life Care Center of Red Bank.
He was born on November 7, 1935, in Section, Alabama to the late Augusta “Gus” and Hattie Stiefel.
He retired from the Army as a master sergeant after serving 20 years (Special Forces, 82nd Airborne, and 101st Airborne) with a tour in Korea and three tours in Vietnam. Following his military career, he was an ROTC instructor in the Hamilton County School System for over 20 years. Line dancing was his passion following retirement, and he enjoyed teaching numerous classes in the area.
He is survived by his son, Michael Stiefel (wife, Nadine Koski) of Chattanooga; his daughter, Jan Jones (husband, Randall) of Raleigh, N.C.; one granddaughter, Laura Stiefel (husband, Dusty Hale); sister, Willene Stiefel Hamilton; and half-brother, David Stiefel.
