UTC Women's Tennis At Mercer, Host UNCG

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team has two matches on the schedule for the weekend.  The Mocs open Southern Conference action at Mercer on Friday, March 19, and host UNCG in league play on Sunday, March 21. 

First serve against the Bears is set for 2:30 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga. Sunday’s match against the Spartans starts at 11:00 a.m. at the UTC Tennis Center in Chattanooga.

The Mocs are 7-4 overall and looking to snap a three-match slide.  Junior Emma Van Hee is 10-1 at No.
2 singles in the spring.  She and sophomore Caroline Gibbens lead the way in doubles with a 4-2 record at No. 1. 

Mercer is 5-4 overall and 0-1 in SoCon action.  The Bears lost to ETSU on March 10 (6-1) and dropped their last match to Kennesaw State (5-2) on March 14.

The Mocs are 12-1 all-time against Mercer, including 11-straight wins in the series.  The last meeting was a tight 4-3 win in Macon on March 31, 2019. 

UNCG is 4-1 on the year and 0-1 in SoCon action.  The Spartans host Samford on Friday before visiting the Scenic City.  UNCG’s only loss is a 5-2 setback at Wofford on March 13.
 
UTC is 11-13 all-time against the Spartans and trying to end a two-match losing streak in the series that began in 1998.  UTC has won five of the last seven, but dropped the last meeting 6-1 on April 6, 2019.
