For the sixth year in a row, 25 teams from throughout the Tennessee Valley will assemble on May 11, at the Lookout Mountain Club for the Morning Pointe Foundation’s annual Mastering Memory Care golf tournament, presented by First Horizon and Propel Insurance Services, Inc. This will be the first time the tournament has been held since 2019, as the 2020 event was cancelled due to the global pandemic. Since inception, the Morning Pointe Foundation has given out over 60 community college scholarships to further the education of the next generation of nurses in senior care.
“As our nation and the world starts to return to a sense of normalcy, we are proud to say the Mastering Memory Care golf tournament is officially scheduled,” said Morning Pointe
Foundation executive director Audra Hopkins.
“This annual spring event is something that we
look forward to each year in anticipation of building financial support for nursing students across
the Southeast. By highlighting our sponsorship of the most deserving people in our community—
hardworking nursing students at places like Chattanooga State, TCAT of Athens, and Columbia
State—we will ultimately make our community stronger and ensure a brighter future for our
seniors.”
Since the founding of the Morning Pointe Foundation in 2014 by senior health care entrepreneurs
Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, the philanthropic arm of the Chattanooga-based Morning
Pointe Senior Living has provided nursing students with more than $100,000 in scholarship
funds. The 501(c)3 non-profit organization has forged partnerships with ten community and
technical colleges in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama.
“Watching Chattanooga business and community leaders come together in a spirit of fun and
giving is especially poignant because of the impact that COVID-19 and the 2020 tornado has had
on so many,” said Morning Pointe Senior Living president Greg A. Vital. “With our city and
our industry roaring back from a challenging year, I’m grateful to the Lookout Mountain Club
for continuing to host this tournament as the Morning Pointe Foundations seeks to provide much needed opportunities to nursing students while providing support to caregivers and drawing
attention to important senior health care issues.”
Since 2018, the Morning Pointe Foundation and Morning Pointe of Athens (TN) have partnered
to host a sister Mastering Memory Care golf tournament. This year’s Athens golf tournament
will take place at the Ridgewood Golf Course on July 21 at 12:30 p.m.
