Cleveland State Softball Loses Doubleheader At Volunteer State Despite 3 Homers From Kaylee Hughes

Cleveland State softball dropped a pair of non-conference games at Volunteer State on Monday evening.

In the first game, the Lady Cougars lost 6-5 in an eight-inning thriller. Cleveland State led 5-3 in the top of the seventh, but the Lady Pioneers battled back to tie the game and ended up pulling ahead in extra innings. It was a big day for Kaylee Hughes at the plate as she hit two home runs and drove in four of the five Lady Cougar runs.GAME 2-

In the second game, Cleveland State fell 9-5. Vol State scored seven runs early on, but the Lady Cougars battled back. Makala Strickland continued her hot streak, hitting a home run that drove in three runs, while Hughes hit one out of the park again to record her third home run of the day.

Softball will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Chattanooga State for a doubleheader with the Lady Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
