Alma Terry Mynatt, 94, of Hixson, died on April 20, 2021.

She spent her final years living in Garden Plaza of Cleveland, Tn., where she grew to love and appreciate the kindness and expertise of the staff.  Born in Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late Maynard and Viva Sharp Terry.  She was a 1944 graduate of Oneida High School.  She worked for the Tennessee Railroad for over four years. She received her degree from Tennessee Technological University and then moved to Chattanooga and was employed by E.I. duPont de Nemours for three years. She married Eugene Mynatt on January 2, 1954. In her later years, she taught business classes at Edmondson Business School, McKenzie Business School, National School of Business, and East Ridge High School.

She was a faithful member of Red Bank Baptist Church for over 60 years and was in the Hope-Electa Sunday School Class, holding various leadership positions within the class. She also enjoyed coordinating and participating in many mission oriented activities through the years. She had a special penchant for working in her yard and could entice even the weakest shrub or plant to thrive under her nurturing care.

She was preceded in death by her husband and by her elder son, Dennis Wayne Mynatt, both of Hixson.  Also preceding her in death were her sisters and their husbands, Delores (Mrs. George) Roark of Oneida, TN, and Lovenia (Mrs. Uriel) Edde of Rutledge, TN.

She is survived by her son, Alan (Peggy) Mynatt of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Huyser of Johns Creek, GA, Logan Mynatt of Chattanooga, Dennis Mynatt, Jr. of Decatur, AL, and Jacob Mynatt of Birmingham, AL.  She is also survived by great-grandchildren Claire, James, Ethan, and Daniel Huyser, and by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements are being made by the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. No visitation is planned, but a memorial service officiated by Bill Harvey will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m. Please adhere to the continuing COVID restrictions by wearing masks and by social distancing. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Bank Baptist Church World Missions Offering.
