Virginia Hughey Ford Moore, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in a local health care facility.

She was a graduate of Howard High School. She was a dedicated member of East Third Street Church of Christ, where she served faithfully as a member until her health failed.

Virginia was a dedicated and loving mother to her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amiel Hughey, Sr. and Ocie Mae Hughey; brothers, Winfred and David Hughey; sister, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Johnson; and grandson, Mr. Jamal M. Rashed.

Virginia is survived by two loving and devoted sons, Mr. Shakir M. (Christy) Rashed and Mr. Abuwi (Nena) Muhammad; brother, Mr. Amiel Hughey, Jr.; sister, Mrs. Anita Dunnigan; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Virginia will lie in state on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at noon in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
