Whitmire, Alex Jordan (Cleveland)

Alex Jordan Whitmire, 34, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday May 5, 2021. He was born on Sept. 29, 1986. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland. Alex enjoyed hanging out with his friends, traveling with his family on vacations, riding four-wheelers, and taking care of people. He had a big heart and was a friend to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Lewis Whitmire; grandparents, Pat Hendrix, Ernest L. and Amy Lee Whitmire; great-grandmother, Dorothy Layman; and aunt, Samantha Renee Whitmire.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his grandfather, Byron Hendrix; father, Sammy (Marie) Whitmire; mother, Lisa Jordan Whitmire Gates; half-brother, Tyler Whitmire; and step-brother, Michael Leamon; sister-in-law, Amy Whitmire; and niece, Laynee Whitmire. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Alex’s life will be held at Companion Funeral Home, Cleveland Chapel, on Monday May 10 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Daniel Bowles officiating. His family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. prior to the service. Following the service, Alex will be laid to rest at Beta cemetery. Jerry Hendrix, Tommy Hendrix, John Hendrix, Tyler Whitmire and Rev. Daniel Bowles will serve as pallbearers.
