CCS Advances To Division II-AA Soccer Elite Eight

  • Saturday, May 15, 2021

The CCS boys soccer game traveled to Nashville on Saturday for a Division II-AA state first round game against Lipscomb Academy.  CCS was the third seed in the east division and Lipscomb was the fourth seed in the middle.  After playing a scoreless first half, CCS exploded for three goals in the second half to earn the win.

CCS senior Andrew Davick had two assists and freshman Christian Landers had two goals.  Cameron Heilig also scored for CCS.

CCS keeper Eli Honeycutt earned the shutout for CCS.

"I liked the way we fiercely attacked in the second half," head coach Warren Smith said. "We showed a lot of maturity in controlling play. We wore them down a bit in the second half.  It was great that we were able to create chances to score and didn't give them chances or opportunities to score on us."

CCS advances to the elite eight and will play at top seeded Baylor on Friday afternoon at 6:00 p.m.

McCallie travels to MBA for their elite eight game this weekend.  The top four teams will advance to the final four in Murfreesboro.
