Josh Collins
Joshua Brent Collins, of Hixson, Tennessee, died suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2021, in Nashville. Josh came into this world two weeks late and left far too soon, one week short of his 40th birthday.
He attended Hixson High school and was employed by Ollie’s.
He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Sanford Collins.
Josh was our own personal Bart Simpson and a great soccer player. He held the record at Hixson Middle School for skipping school the earliest in the year of any sixth-grade student prior. He had the uncanny ability to disappear from school, even with his sister making sure he got to homeroom each day. While school could not hold him, Josh loved reading and enjoyed everything from Stephen King to physics. He enjoyed midnight raids for gas station snacks, foosball and big dogs. Josh was an avid music lover, often playing the same songs on repeat for months on end, while wearing his sister’s “borrowed” rock band shirts. He colored to calm his spirit and loved shooting bottle rockets out of his bedroom window with his cousins and friends. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas he required his own personal pumpkin pie. He was loved for all his charm and loved even more for his flaws that he fought to overcome.
Joshua leaves behind his son, Ethan Hunter Collins, mother, Diane Collins (Albert) Jarvis, sister, Heather (JayEvan) Montgomery, nephew, Gannon Montgomery, niece, Amelia Montgomery, along with many cousins who will miss him dearly.
Memorials may be made to CADAS, with whose help he was able to maintain stability in the last years of his life.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 23, at Chester Frost Park, Shelter #4 from 4-8 p.m.
