Joyce Curry Kendrick, 89, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the family residence.

She was born Oct. 11, 1931 to the late Bishop Maurice S. Curry and Lois Johnson Curry in Sanford, Fl. Her husband, Bishop Leonard F. Kendrick, her infant son, Leonard Craig Kendrick and her sisters, Betty Vicars (Hubert) and Barbara Gilmer also preceded her in death.

She attended Elementary, Junior High and High School in Ocoee, Fl. and she was named the salutatorian of her High School graduating class. She first met her husband Leonard at the Ocoee, Florida State Convention. Their first date was to go to the Assembly where they sat together on the 3rd row. Because of her servant's heart and being known as an encourager, she served as a Pink Lady at Winter Garden Memorial Hospital and a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She worked at the Florida Phone Company as an operator with 20 years of service and she worked as receptionist for the Church of God of Prophecy Headquarters with 25 years of service. Joyce was a longest tenured member of the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her daughter, Jill Stone (Bob), The Villages, Florida; grandson, Curry Stone (Fiancé, Elizabeth Winter), Ooltewah, Tennessee; nephews, Steven Gilmer (Vonnie), Dale Vicars (Keitha), Richard Babington (Sandy); niece, Glenda Ruppell; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Tim Coalter, Bishop Steve Gilmer and Dr. Michael Plumley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers. A dove release will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy.

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
