Richard Coley “Red,” of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 6:50 p.m. at a local hospital. He was a born again Christian and of the Pentecostal faith. He was a mechanic most of his life. Red loved to play the guitar and sing and he composed his own music. He loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Scott; parents, William and Frances Lewis; granddaughter, Gabby Beavers; and brothers, Jesse Coley, Mike Ellis and Dexter Coley.
He is survived by his sons, James Ballinger, Sr. (Audrey), George Beavers, Sr. (Betty); daughters, Carmen Hawes, Candy Smith; grandchildren, Stephanie and Bubba Beavers, James Ballinger, Jr., Angel, Jacob, Briana and Savanna Chase, Tiffany and Johnathon Lawson, Kendra Jolly; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home, with the Reverend Ron Leslie officiating.
His family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, then again on Sunday, Oct. 3 from noon-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
