Dreamer: The Diary of Joseph will be performed Nov. 11-13 by Unity Dance Troupe at Westmore COG in Cleveland, with evening performances Friday and Saturday and a matinee performance on Sunday. Unity’s goal through this production is to ignite dreams in the audience that have been lost or are yet undiscovered.
Review for Dreamer: The Diary of Joseph:
Dreamer: The Diary of Joseph, performed by Unity Dance Troupe, portrays the story of the esteemed Old Testament figure. Framed by narrations from Joseph’s diary, the production illuminates his most intimate fears and reservations while exploring the existence of forgiveness and trust. Joseph’s journey is heartbreaking; he is sold into slavery by his own brothers and
jailed on false accusations. He is betrayed again and again. Throughout, Joseph wrestles- as his father did- to view God rightly through a lens so clouded by the pain of his experience.
"Dreamer is a story about trusting in a God that you can’t see," said Alexis Burleson, director. "The reason I wrote Dreamer is to show that trust only comes through time and experience with God. God isn’t a manipulator. He will go to any lengths to earn your trust. Because trust is earned; it’s not given.”
Witness the violence of Joseph’s brothers and the cruelty of his enemies before celebrating as he is crowned second only to Egypt’s Pharaoh. Go with Joseph, see yourself mirrored in his sorrow and joy. Share in this timeless story of loss, uncertainty, and the faithfulness of an invisible God.
