Ahmad Willis, 42, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away on October 1, 2022.

 

He was born on Nov. 4, 1979, in Tyler, Texas, to parents, Herbert and Rebecca Willis. He grew up in Quitman, Texas, where he attended Quitman ISD. He was awarded a scholarship to Northwestern State University where he played football and met his wife, Natasha Trauth. They have two children, Xavier and Xahara Willis.

 

In his youth Ahmad attended Quitman ISD where he played many sports and achieved many awards and accolades. During his college years Ahmad was a standout All-American defensive end earning top honors. Some of his records are still upheld to this day.

 

Ahmad and his family settled down in Soddy Daisy, where he worked in youth and family development as well as RHA health services. His work life was busy but he still found time to give back and coach many youth sports for his son and daughter's teams throughout the years. He also mentored many other children as he was always willing to help any child learn and love sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping, doing water sports, traveling and riding his motorcycle.

 

Ahmad was preceded in death by his son, Zander Adrell Willis, paternal grandmother, Ada Marie Willis, maternal grandmother, Christine Kemp, maternal grandfather, James Sam Kemp, paternal grandmother, Mattie Willis Bell.

 

Ahmad is survived by his wife Natasha Trauth, two children, Xavier and Xahara Willis, parents, Herbert and Rebecca Willis, siblings, Angela (Darrin) Sharp and George (Lindsey) Willis, grandfather, Dr. George O. Willis and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

A Celebration of Ahmad's life will be held this Saturday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Valor at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

 

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
