James Franklin “Jimmy” Hickman, 58, of Dayton, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

He was born in Dayton on Sept. 19, 1964, the son of William Franklin “Boot” Hickman of Dayton and Branda Kay (Nixon) Hickman of Spring City, who survive him. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Tracy Hickman. 

Jimmy was employed as a pipe layer and then as a truck driver for Kendall Tree Service. He enjoyed hunting and attended Sale Creek Church of God. 

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kathy” Hickman of Dayton; his son, Kevin Hickman of Dayton; his daughter, Destiny Hickman of Dayton; his granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Leffew of Athens; his brother Mark Hickman of Dayton; his sister, Shannon (Mark) Yager of Oklahoma; and his nieces, Chelsea Yager and Lena Yager of Oklahoma. 

Funeral services for Jimmy will be in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. with Robert Filyaw officiating. He will be laid to rest at Spivey Cemetery.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tn., where they will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
