CHI Memorial Announces LPN Residency Program

  • Wednesday, April 20, 2022

CHI Memorial announces its new licensed practice nurse residency program will begin in July.  The LPN program will be similar to CHI Memorial’s RN Residency program, which began in its current design in July 2015.  CHI Memorial’s RN Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. This is the highest recognition awarded by the ANCC.

Recent graduate LPNs who have less than 12 months experience in the hospital setting will gain exposure to different areas of the hospital.  The goal is to provide a streamlined orientation experience for LPNs that provides them with the support they need to begin a successful career here at CHI Memorial. The program begins with an intense 12 week orientation period of on-boarding education mixed with bedside experiences in multiple nursing units.  The program includes participation from nurse managers, human resources, clinical education, as well as physicians and other providers.

LPN residents are matched to a home unit for completion of unit specific orientation. Residents will be supported through monthly continuing education classes and one-on-one mentoring.  CHI Memorial’s LPN Residency program is designed to walk with new graduate LPNs through the first 12 months of their career at CHI Memorial.

CHI Memorial’s first LPN residency cohort will begin in July. The next cohort will begin in September.
