Leadership Cleveland Class of 2022 at the Capitol in Nashville
The 2022 Leadership Cleveland Graduation and Alumni Association Scholarship Luncheon will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 23 at the Cleveland Country Club. The event will honor the graduates of the current year's program and raise funds to provide a non-profit executive with a future scholarship to the program.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Joel Henderson. Mr. Henderson serves as executive director for Volunteers in Medicine, and has spent much of his professional career in some component of leadership, with a focus and passion for healthcare and community betterment.
"Well known in Cleveland and Bradley County for his former role with the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce and involvement in many community boards, committees and organizations, Mr. Henderson has a passion for community," officials said.
He has served in leadership volunteer roles on numerous civic and non-profit boards and committees, including Rotary International, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, United Way of Central Florida, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Public Relations Society of America, Grant Professionals Network of Central Florida, Cleveland Media Association, City Fields – Blythe Oldfield Community Association and COVID-19 Regional Task Force.
Mr. Henderson is a graduate and alumnus from the Disney Leadership Institute, Leadership Osceola, Leadership Orlando, Leadership Chattanooga and Leadership Cleveland. He is a recipient of the Life Inspiration and Leadership Excellence Awards from the American Cancer Society, the 2009 Alumnus of the Year from Georgia Cumberland Academy and Community Leader Honoree from Leadership Osceola. He has received Professional Excellence Peer Awards from both the GPN of Central Florida and PRSA Lookout Chapter.
He is a 1994 graduate from Southern Adventist University, where he met his wife, Teri – also a healthcare professional. Joel and Teri have a daughter, Emma Grace – a senior at Collegedale Academy, who plans to attend Lee University in the Fall. He enjoys traveling and has a particular passion for the arts and gardening.
Volunteers in Medicine is a health ministry that provides primary care access to the medically underserved in Chattanooga. The non-profit gives compassionate and personalized care at no cost to patients by 85 volunteer healthcare heroes and a small staff of five employees.

The Class of 2022 has nominated Brad Perkins, financial advisor at Raymond James & Associates/Cooper & Cooper, to speak on behalf of the class at the graduation event.
