Volunteers who organize the Scott Hicks Memorial Chairty Auction & Golf Event announce the 29th annual event. For nearly three decades, the event has raised money to grant magical wishes for area children battling critical illnesses.
The event on Thursday, June 12, is open to the public and includes a dinner, silent auction and live auction. Available items include dinners, trips and lots of small and large kitchen and home appliances. Local vocal artist, Brett Wilcox, will also be performing.
Entry to the dinner and auction is $20 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door. The sold-out golf tournament is on Friday, June 13.
Volunteers, most of whom are Whirlpool Corporation employees from Cleveland, work to organize and host the auction and golf tournament. The event began as a passion project of Scott Hicks. Members of his family and friends dedicated the event to his memory when he passed away in 2013. The event has become a Cleveland community tradition and has helped many local children who are fighting critical illnesses by granting their life-changing wishes.
Wishes only come true with the support of local donors and the help of local volunteers. Make-A-Wish East Tennessee, the beneficiary of the event, grants wishes to children with critical illnesses between 2½ and 18 years old. Wishes are powerful. They provide hope and joy to children and inspire them to face their conditions with renewed strength, said officials.
The dinner and auction on Thursday June 12, begins at 6 p.m. Entry is $20. Pre-paid ticket holders can enter at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online. It will be held at Southern Charm, 656 Minnis Road, in Cleveland.
The golf tournament will be held at Cleveland Country Club, 345 Kyle Lane NW.
