As Memorial Day is approaching, the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council will coordinate the placement of Flags on the 49,800 graves at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Saturday at 8 a.m. and Retiring the Flags on Saturday, May 31, at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed and parking will be at the Cemetery.

To volunteer show-up at the Cemetery on Saturday at 8 a.m., call 756-2212 or contact Captain Mickey McCamish, U. S. Navy (Retired) at mickey@riverbendfestival.com, LCOL Scott Hardin, U. S. Army (Retired) at hshardin@epbfi.com or CAVC Chairman and U. S. Marine Retiree Bill Norton at bill@metroservicesinc.com. Groups may sign up to do specific sections as well.

“One of the most patriotic ways of honoring a veteran laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery is by placing a flag on their grave," said Captain McCamish. "This Flag placement and Retirement is a very special way of saying thank you for serving our country."
