Gene “Papa” Stone, 90, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022.

Gene was born the youngest of nine siblings in Fort Payne, Al., in 1932. After serving the Army during the conflict in Korea, he met Juanita who became his life partner and wife of 70 years. Later he and Juanita began their journey together by becoming lifelong residents of Red Bank, TN and starting a family. His full career was spent working at BASF. After retirement, he still harbored an itch to work, leading him to clerking several more years for Ken’s Liquor Store.

Gene will be remembered for his devotion to family, humble bragging to friends, colleagues and customers regarding the successes of all of his grandchildren, and tireless rooting for Vols football.

He iwa preceded by his parents, Joe B and Emma; brothers, Troy, Earn, Richard, John, Harold, Carl; and sisters, Lois and Emma Joe.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Stone; children, Tina Stone, Mark (Maria) Stone, Danny (Sheila) Stone and several of his grandchildren.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 24, in Hixson, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel. The visitation will be followed by a graveside service at 1:30 pm EST at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Harvey officiating.
