Doubling Up: Weaver And Welshan Take Friday And Saturday Races

Cameron Weaver of Crossville and Jason Welshan of Maryville doubled up over the weekend at four different tracks, taking wins in Kentucky, Sweetwater, Tn., Chattanooga/Ringgold and Seymour, Tn.

Friday night Weaver (#116) picked up $3,000 winning at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater before heading to Boyd's Speedway on Saturday, while Welshan scored big at Mountain Motorsports Park Friday in Kentucky, before heading to 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tn. Saturday. Both Weaver's wins came under the Topless Outlaw Late Model series banner, with Welshan piloting his Hux Motorsports #01 "Bandit" 604/Crate Late Model car to his two victories.

In Dayton/Spring City, just north of Chattanooga on Saturday, Kyle Courtney of Knoxville put an end to Barry Goodman's winning streak in Late Model action. The big race was a $1,000 feature for the FWD division that drew 47 entries. Nathan Adams of Crossville won from the pole position holding off 8th starting Jake Presley of Sweetwater and Jason Katron of Kingsport.

Down in Northeast Alabama at the Fort Payne Motor Speedway, just south of Chattanooga, Chase Oliver picked up another Super Late Model victory. Jesse Hughes (#22) won his first Crate Late Model feature.

Johnson City's Jensen Ford (#83) won a battle against Brandon Overton (#76), arguably the hottest racer in America, Friday in South Carolina worth $5,000.

The North Georgia Speedway in Dalton/Chatsworth was rained out halfway through its season opener program.

Next weekend being Memorial Day, a plethora of races are slated. Sunday the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA is at Tazewell Speedway, north of Knoxville near the Kentucky border, for a $3,001 50-lapper dedicated to Melvin Corum.
