  • Tuesday, June 21, 2022

At the Tennessee Turfgrass Association’s annual conference, Andrew Jacks with East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department, accepted the Municipal Sports Field of the Year award on behalf of Camp Jordan Park.  The Tennessee Turfgrass Association presents this award each year to a distinguished sports field across the state, recognizing the personal and professional contributions of members who go above and beyond at their facilities.

Mr. Jacks, head groundskeeper for East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department, is in his 18th year of caring for the numerous sports fields at Camp Jordan.

"He and his fellow co-workers work tirelessly on the 275-acre park that hosts multiple outdoor activities for all levels of players, often playing seven days a week," officials said.

Camp Jordan currently boasts 13 baseball/softball fields and 14 soccer fields, which keeps Mr. Jacks and his co-workers busy providing the best playing conditions possible on each field.

“It is a big honor for Camp Jordan to receive the Municipal Sports Field of the Year award for the #1 sports complex in the state,” said Mr. Jacks.  “This award is great recognition for all the hard work everyone in the East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department is doing to make Camp Jordan great.”
