Coosa Mill Comes Alive This Fall With "Concerts At Coosa" And "If These Walls Could Talk"

  • Monday, July 11, 2022

Collier Construction and The Pop-Up Project will be animating and activating the historic Coosa Mill with a series of unique music, theater and dance events involving dozens of local artists and performers.

The initial set of events, “Concerts At Coosa,” will take place on Fridays throughout September and October, and will include both classical performances, indie pop concerts, and the official album release party for local pop sensation Jenna DeVries.

In November, “If These Walls Could Talk…” will tell the story of the mill and the surrounding neighborhood through a fully immersive performance that combines original dance, installation art, projection mapping, aerial artistry and live music. Audiences will be free to explore the mill at their own pace, giving each visitor an entirely singular and unrepeatable experience.

“The Coosa Mill is such a special and historic place in our city, and we’re thrilled to be able to invite Chattanoogans inside for these once-in-a-lifetime events,” said Ethan Collier, CEO of Collier Construction, which is sponsoring the series. “Even though the mill has been vacant for years, it remains full of stories, mysteries, and potential. I look forward to seeing everyone there.”

“Everything that is happening at the Mill this fall is a testament to the strength and depth of our city’s artistic community,” said Jules Downum and Mattie Waters, co-founders of The Pop-Up Project. “These events are showing new ways that community development, the arts, and historic preservation can work together, and we’re honored to share this opportunity with so many awesome collaborators.”

Tickets for each performance are limited and will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 18, at milltownchattanooga.com. Food trucks and cash bars will be available at each event.

All events will take place in and around 1800 South Watkins St. in the Oak Grove neighborhood. Attendees are encouraged to walk, ride, or use public transportation to reach the Coosa Mill.
