Marie Anthonette “Angel” Pickett, 66, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at her Dalton, Georgia residence.

 

She attended Long Beach High School in Long Beach, New York.

 

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Pickett, Jr.; mother, Bernice Brooks Cuffee; father, Joe Brooks, Sr.; brother, Joe Brooks, Jr.; aunts, Shirley Smith and Martha Jones; nephew, Clifton Brooks; father and mother-in-law, William and Naomi Pickett, Sr.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Shamar (Jermaine, Sr.) Hester of Dalton, GA; godsons, Eric Norwood and Mancil Brooks, both of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Jermaine (Bethany) Hester, Jr. and Nyisha (Devin) Moore; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Anthony Brooks of Chattanooga and Barry Huff of Long Beach, NY; sister, Joeann (Tyrone) King of Chattanooga; in-laws, Donna (Steve) Cunningham, Sharon (Carol) Springs, Vincent (Stacy) Pickett, Billy Pickett, and Eddie (Terry) Pickett; sister-in-law, Wanda Brooks of Long Beach, NY; 10 nephews; 16 nieces; a host of great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

 

Marie will lie in state on Thursday, July 28, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 28, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ronald B. Cook, Sr. as the eulogist.

 

Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Jasper, Tn.
