Joe Smith Is An Example Of Integrity, Dedication And Competence

  • Wednesday, July 27, 2022

In a time when many are disillusioned about elected officials, Joe Smith stands out as an example of integrity, dedication and competence. When the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga began YCAP, a program for at-risk youth, I said, “I know just the person to develop and lead this initiative.”

I can’t imagine how many young people were turned around in that program under Joe’s leadership, but I do know that the list of grateful parents is very long. His experience there well qualifies him for excellence as a school board member because the program interfaced with each child’s school for their academic success. That’s what it takes for academic success – schools, parents and caring professionals working together for the good of the child.

Joe lacks the arrogance of some elected officials who decide on their own what is good for us. Instead, as the representative of District 3 on the school board, he has volunteered in the schools, been a substitute teacher, and actually asked parents, teachers and principals what the schools need to better educate and nurture children.

District 3 could not ask for a better representative. D.K. Joe Smith’s investment of time, his honesty and responsiveness, his years of experience working with the schools, and his passion for bettering the lives of children make him the very best choice for the Hamilton County School Board.
