Lorette Ann Shields Shelton, 62, a resident of Old Fort, passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Tennova of Cleveland. She was born in Dalton, a daughter of the late W.C. “Dub” Shields and Mary Ruth Prince Shields Rodgers. Lorette was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed cross stitching and traveling, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Shields and Terry Shields and her stepfather, Leroy Rodgers.
Lorette leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 30 years, Emery Shelton; one son, Daniel Shelton (Brandi); two daughters, Amanda Meadows (Joey) and April Earnest; one brother, Gary Shields (Rhonda); 10 grandchildren, Izac, Ethan & Alivia Meadows, Savannah & Alyssa Wright, Dakota, Kyrie & Kaleb Earnest and Chayton & Candon Shelton; a special cousin who was more like a sister, Linda Silvers; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Shields and Sheila Shields; and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 31 from 1-2 p.m. in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Moore’s Chapel Cemetery, with the Reverend Guinn Green officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
