The annual Ice bowl was held this past weekend at Talladega Short Track, in Alabama across from the NASCAR Talladega Superspeedway. Defending Crate USA champion Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tn. picked up where he left off in 2022 by winning the $3,000 Crate Late Model portion of the weekend.
Welshan is sporting a new look for 2023 for his #29 Hux Motorsports race team. Welshan would lead the entire race of the crate late models in his "Competition Racing Equipment, Millwood Plumbing, MCR, Fike Fabrication JJ Trucking and Excavating" Savage racecar.
Chattanooga's Booger Brooks would finish second.
North Carolina's Ray Cook would take the Valvoline Iron Man, super late model feature victory in his infamous #53.
The Seawright brothers of Fort Payne, Al. at one time had the number one and two positions during the feature but mechanical and tire issues would knock them from the top five.
In three weeks, the Valvoline Iron Man series comes to Chattanooga's Boyd's Speedway for the annual Cabin Fever race.
