The East Hamilton’s boys team advanced to the state tournament by winning their third straight Division I-AA Region 3 championship on Monday at Flagstone Golf Club in Cleveland.
The Hurricanes finished at 5-over 293, while Walker Valley placed second (10-over 298) and Ooltewah third (44-over 332).
Walker Valley’s Cody Skipper won the individual title on the first hole of a six-way playoff with a birdie. Skipper shot 72 along with East Hamilton’s Griffin Law, Tucker Wick and Daniel Moseley as well as Cleveland’s Tripp Hall and Ooltewah’s Tyler Tate.
Skipper, Hall and Tate all advanced to the state tournament as individuals.
Cleveland won the girls competition with a score of 22-over 166, five shots ahead of Ooltewah and seven better than Bradley Central.
The girls champion was also decided in a playoff with Cleveland’s Darbi Shay defeating Ooltewah’s Delaney Ratchford on the fourth extra hole after the duo posted a round of 8-over 80. Ratchford qualified for the state tournament as individuals as well as Bradley’s Colby Ann Turner (12-over 84) and Walker Valley’s Ainsley Oliver (13-over 85).
