Marvin Eugene Rhea, loving father and grandfather, 83, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
He was a resident of Chattanooga and a professing believer in Jesus Christ. Marvin was a retired Captain with the Chattanooga Police Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also in charge of security at Baylor School for over 40 years as well as head of security at Northgate Gallery Antiques. Marvin was known as a hard worker. He was very self-reliant, independent and meticulous. If he was able to accomplish a task himself, he would. Marvin had an amazing sense of humor and a quick wit. He was also very intelligent, remembering the punchlines to many jokes, and had the ability to make anyone laugh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Rhea; parents, Joe and Willie Rhea, and brother, Bobby Rhea.
Marvin is survived by his son, Robert Rhea (Vicky); daughter, Vickie Rogers (Barry); grandchildren, Jessica Rhea, Jordan Bouton (Joshua), and Macy Beal, as well as several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 12-2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home at Highway 58. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Paul Lee officiating.
Marvin will be laid to rest in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
