Joshua “Josh” Miller Hunter
Joshua “Josh” Miller Hunter, 42, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away at the family home in Chattanooga in the presence of his family and their love on Monday morning, October 2, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Dorothy Lifsey; Miller and Elizabeth Hunter and aunt, Marianne Lifsey.
Josh was born in Nashville, at Vanderbilt Hospital on June 23, 1981, to Don and Libby Hunter. Josh truly enjoyed the camaraderie and lifelong friends gained from his experiences at McCallie High School, Cleveland High School, and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Josh worked in the restaurant industry and family business with his mother, Libby and siblings for many years. In recent years he enjoyed coastal and lake living which was enriched by working in the marine industry with his wife LT Hunter and in-laws, Rick and Jackie Axt at Southern Marine Associates.
Josh attended Estill Springs United Methodist Church and regularly joined his Chattanooga family at ChristWay Community Church in Ooltewah. More than anything, Josh loved his four-year old daughter, Lauralee Elizabeth Hunter.
Josh had a passion for sports and sports statistics. He found great joy in celebrating his teams including the Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee Titans, and especially the Atlanta Braves. He was thrilled to see soccer establishments find themselves in Tennessee like the Nashville Soccer Club and Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer.
Josh took pride in imbuing Lauralee with a legacy of fandom for sports and his favorite teams. They enjoyed many father-daughter adventures together in stadiums. Lauralee has been in the bleachers much of her life traveling to Atlanta to “chop” for the Braves or cheering on her cousins at local soccer fields. Their time together was special, whether watching a game or kicking a soccer ball in the backyard.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, LT Hunter; daughter, Lauralee Hunter; brother, Jonathan Hunter; sister, Julie Hunter (Al Tucker); Aunt Kay Stanford (Charles) and family and his adoring nieces and nephews, Jackson, Hunter, Breck, and Elizabeth Fields and Harper and Hadley Hunter; and a myriad of friends and family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Chattanooga.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. officiated by Reverend Daniel Phebus of ESUMC and Josh’s brother Jonathan Hunter.
