Michele Coffman, Republican candidate for the vacancy to fill the seat of retired Circuit Judge Marie Williams, told members of the Chattanooga Civitan Luncheon on Friday of her desire "to serve all the people of Hamilton County and to be fair and honest to all persons who will appear in her court, if she is elected."
The candidate is a married mother with children, with one son, age 18 and a high school football player.
She said that she knows how hard and stressful for families to live in this day and time. And she said she can relate to the struggles of ordinary working people .
She started her law practice in the general practice of law with a background in accounting while in college . Her law practice covers transactional and general litigation, including business, contracts, real estate, domestic cases, as well as personal injury cases .
In 2012, she became a certified mediator and helped resolved almost 800 cases, mostly divorce cases. She said most of the cases now filed are divorce and domestic cases.
In response to a question from a club member about what is the difference between herself and the other candidate running in the same Republican Primary by citing her 23 years experience as an attorney handling all kinds of cases “versus. the other candidate’s experience."
The Republican primary early voting begins on Feb.l14, 2024 . The Republican Primary Election is on March 5, 2024 . And the General Election is on Aug.1, 2024.
