Charlotte Griggs

Charlotte Jordan Griggs, 87, of Dalton, gently entered the presence of her Lord on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2023, surrounded by loving family at her home.  Charlotte was born on June 28, 1936, in Villanow, Georgia to the late Earl and Mary Jordan.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Carl Lloyd Griggs, Sr., her daughter, Anne Roberts, and siblings, Robert Jordan and Mary Manis.

Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Carl Jr. “Bubba” (Karen), Glynn, and Mark (Beth); son-in-law Dan Roberts; grandchildren David (Chelsea) Roberts, Steven (Cacy) Roberts, Andrew (Linley) Roberts, Katie (Elliott) Miller, Carly (Gray) Hutchinson, Cara Griggs, Kacie Griggs, Sophia Griggs, Olivia Griggs, Audrey Alves, Andrea (Landon) Gray, John Mark (Hannah) Griggs, and Eric (Jessica) Griggs; and 28 great-grandchildren.  Charlotte is also survived by her sister Rhonda (Mike) Scoggins, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Charlotte’s greatest joy in life came from her relationship with the Lord Jesus.  The generous outpouring of her love to Carl and their very large family was a testimony to her relationship with Christ.  Because of her playful spirit, she took great delight in her 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.  Charlotte was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and shared her gifts as a teacher and mentor to many.  She was also a committed volunteer for various organizations in the area and a loyal friend to many.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Charlotte’s niece Leigh Ellen Griggs, who provided much care and companionship over the years, and to Dr. Stephen Carson for the kind and compassionate care she received from him for 22 years.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Charlotte Griggs will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dalton.  The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church from 1 to 3 p.m.  Love Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Charlotte’s memory be made to First Baptist Church of Dalton or to one’s favorite charity.
