Anna Louise Parsons Colquette died at home on January 31, 2023, after a brief period of declining health. She was 93.

Born on Aug. 11, 1929, Louise was the only child of Harrison Lafayette Parsons and Silvia Grace Young, both of whom predeceased her. She lived her early life in Scottsboro, Al., where her family owned a boarding house that overlooked the town square.

She graduated from Stevenson High School in 1946 and married Kenneth Ferrell Colquette later that same year. Upon marriage, the couple moved to Tracy City, Tn.

Her two children, Kenneth and Ronald were born in 1947 and 1949 respectively. As a young mother, she began commuting to Murfreesboro to earn her teaching degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She taught elementary school and served as the school librarian for twenty-nine years at what was then called Shook Elementary School in Tracy City.

Following husband Ferrell’s death in 1988, she relocated to Jasper, Tn. Her major passion was travel. Along with a group of friends, she ventured widely throughout the US and most of Western Europe. She was also a long-time volunteer at the Jasper Public Library, a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Tracy City and the McKendree United Methodist Church in Jasper. She was known for her dry wit and was a lifelong voracious reader.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and Ronald (Deborah) Colquette, four grandchildren, Traci (Sean) Colquette McKeever, Cory (Kim) Colquette, Elizabeth Colquette Weaver, and Victoria (Jacob) Colquette Horsley and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. (CST) at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, with The Reverend Jeremy McMillan officiating.

Ms. Colquette will be laid to rest at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5, from 1-2 p. m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the funeral home chapel in Jasper.

The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers Patty Gravitt and Pat Shelton.

Arrangements are by Rogers Funeral Home, 21 East Fifth Street, Jasper, Tn. 37347, 423 942-2682.
