Sheila Annette Gillespie, 62, passed away peacefully on February 25 at Bradley Rehab Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Gillespie, and her grandparents, George and Henrietta Hammonds and Felix and Lora Gillespie.
Sheila was a devoted member of Mt. Eagle Baptist Church and formerly worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital, before her disability.
She is survived by her son Jason Gillespie; brother, Chauncey Gillespie; and sisters, Vivian Brown and Brenda Jackson, all of Charleston.
In addition to her immediate family, Sheila is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Eric (Joyce), Jackson, Jeffery (Samantha) Brown, of Cleveland, and Robert Brown, of Charleston; as well as nieces, Stephanie and Latanya Brown, of Athens, Shyrell (Kenny) Johnson, of Riceville, Gisela (Jason) Heintz, of Cleveland; and several great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a twin cousin, Gerald Hammonds; a special friend, Janet Marcum; three aunts, Joann Cooley, of Calhoun, Alice Gibbs and Gloria Hammonds, of Charleston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff on wing four at Bradley Rehab Center and the wound team for their exceptional care of Sheila.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at Companion Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate Sheila's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at Companion Funeral Home in the chapel, with Pastor Kelly Hammonds officiating.
