U.S. Army Veteran Retired After Long Career With WDEF

Glenn R. Williams, 92, of Signal Mountain, passed away at home on Saturday February 4, 2023.

Glenn served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for most of us life in Radio and Television and retired from WDEF after 32 years. He then went on to work for the City of Chattanooga as a traffic engineer. He also enjoyed being a HAM radio operator and teaching classes at Chattanooga State. Everyone that knew him enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Wanda Samples Williams, and his parents, Prince and Ruth Williams.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Glenda R. Ballnus, sister-in- law, Judy Buffington, several cousins, many dear friends, and the loving family of Pastor Glenn Morgan who included Glenn in their family after the passing of Wanda.

A Celebration of Glenn’s Life will be held graveside in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Glenn’s memory can be made to Community Baptist Church, 2016 Corral Road, Signal Mountain, Tn. 37377.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
