Richard D. “Dick” Dillender Jr., 95, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Dick was born in Knoxville, Tn., on September 19, 1927. He attended High School in Darlington, S.C. and immediately after graduation joined the Navy where he served aboard the battleship, USS Iowa. After the service he attended North Carolina State University where he received a BS and a MS Degree in Engineering. In 1954 he moved to Chattanooga to work at American Lava/3M Company, where he retired as plant manager.

Dick was active in the Downtown Rotary Club, the Chattanooga Manufacturers Association and other civic organizations.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret “Polly” Stevens Dillender; second wife Barbara Huff Dillender; parents, Richard D. Dillender Sr., and Jennie Caldwell Dillender; and brother, Sam Dillender.

He is survived by three children, Becky (Ward) Gossett of Lenoir City, Tn., David (Patti) Dillender III of Ormond Beach, Fl., and Teke Dillender of Portland, Or.; seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren. Dick was also fortunate to have in his life, Doug BeVille, Amy BeVille and Laura BeVille and their children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the charity of your choice.
