Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Myers Vanoer
Eighteen days before her 95th birthday, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Myers Vanoer went home to be with the Lord.
Betty was born on February 25, 1928, with an audience of medical observers to witness one of the first Cesarean births in Chattanooga. Her parents were John Oscar and Anna Mae (Coster) Myers.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, and graduated from Central High School in 1946 where she enjoyed being a majorette. Betty gave her heart to the Lord and was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church.
She married W. Lee Vanoer in 1950 and they started their family with their three children and was a devoted wife; supporting her husband in his many community involvements.
While Betty was a stay at home mother, she was also intermittently employed by REA Express Agency as a key punch operator in the new age of computer generated payroll. She served her community through civic organizations, PTA, Girl Scouts, Den Mother, and Meals on Wheels.
She loved the beauty of the outdoors including trees, flowers, traveling, and camping. The family has fond memories of their camping trips, holiday celebrations, and travel adventures.
Betty enjoyed many hobbies including garden club, knitting, cross-stitch, watching golf, the Atlanta Braves, and her pets she had during her lifetime.
She will be deeply missed and remembered for her generous love and care for her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Walter Lee Vanoer; her parents; brother, Francis (Ruth) Myers, of Columbus, OH; and niece, Theresa Ann Myers Cole of Akron, OH.
She is survived by her three children, Richard Lee Vanoer, Robin Rice, and Debbie (Mark) Carpenter; grandchildren, Laura Rice, Christopher Rice, and Amanda (James) Holland; great-grandsons, Weyland Holland, Woodrow Holland and expected great-granddaughter, Baby Holland; nieces, Francie, Diane, Mary Ann, and JoAnn; and nephew, Michael.
