Gordon Lamar Black
Gordon Lamar Black (Lamar) of East Ridge, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2023. Lamar was 73 years old.
His parents, Gordon L. and Erma R. Black preceded him in death. He was their only child.
Lamar worshiped and served at Hickory Valley Christian Church and City Church of Chattanooga.
Lamar lived a simple life. He loved the outdoors, serving others and his church families. He was active in the Kairos Prison Ministry, where he shared God’s love with inmates. Additionally, Lamar served in the Tres Dias community, which sponsors weekend retreats that foster inner healing, personal growth, and a deeper relationship with God.
Lamar served his country in the USMCR from 1969 to 1975. He received a degree in Business Administration. He owned a real estate appraisal business from which he retired in 2014.
Lamar remained single most of his life and was survived only by his loyal friends.
Visitation will be held at City Church of Chattanooga on March 1, at 6 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.
