  • Thursday, July 31, 2025

Mrs. Tempie Marie Land Pierce, age 85, of Dalton, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025.

Born June 29, 1940, in Dalton, Tempie was the beloved daughter of the late Arvil and Ruth Sane Land. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Ray Ausmus and Oliver Pierce; her cherished grandson, Ron Harlan Lewallen; sons-in-law, Ronald Lewallen and Charles Rodney Stanley; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mary Land; sister and brother-in-law, Georgie Ruth and John Henry Smith; and her grandparents, William and Nora Bridges Sane, and William Arthur and Mary Ann Caldwell-Woody Land.

Tempie devoted her life to her family and community as a full-time housewife, mother, grandmother and babysitter—becoming a nurturing presence to countless children over the years. She was known for her immense love and care, always offering a warm home and a helping hand. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.

She had a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Tempie loved gardening, canning and growing beautiful flowers. She was an avid word puzzle enthusiast and found great joy in attending arts and crafts shows with her loved ones. Her home was filled with warmth, creativity and the comforting aromas of homemade preserves and blooms from her garden.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Tempie was a devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was embraced by her loving church family. Her kindness, humility and strong spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Tammy Lewallen, and Ginger and Allen Frazier, all of Dalton, Ga.; her adored granddaughter, Emily Hannah and husband, Kyle Morrison, of Cortez, Co.; her dear sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Jerry Warnix of Dalton, Ga.; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of cherished friends.
