UTC Golfers Travel To Linger Longer Invitational

  • Saturday, March 18, 2023

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team has reached the top 60 in the country in the latest Golfstat rankings. A big opportunity is ahead for the lads to improve on that position beginning Sunday at the Linger Longer Invitational.

The Mocs are one of nine teams among the top 60 nationally which generally guarantees a spot in the NCAA Championships beginning with regional play. With such a deep field, a strong finish this week further cements that potential run.

The 3-day, 54-hole event is played on Reynolds Lake Oconee’s Great Waters Course. It’s the 11th entry in the annual event for the Mocs. The best finish is second in 2011 that included top 15 wins over Georgia and Stanford.

This week’s crew looking for a sixth top 5 at the Linger Longer is a familiar fivesome. John Houk topped qualifying followed by Paul Conroy, Garrett Engle, Samuel Espinosa and Braedon Wear. This group has started four of the squad’s eight events including the last three.
