Lucia Fary
Lucia Spencer Fary, 83, of Dayton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2023.
Lucia was born on February 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Noel and Kathleen (Benjamin) Spencer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Malcolm, and her son, Malcolm “Micky” Fary, and a sister, Virginia Spencer.
Although Lucia never finished high school, she became a million-dollar real estate saleswoman for the company she brokered and owned, Dayton Real Estate (Best Realty). She then served as the vice president of Title Insurance Company in Dayton. Lucia was a wholehearted advocate and fan of The Care Center (where she served as Board President), Silver Sneakers, RC3, the Bryan College Chamber Singers, and any sport or event her children or grandchildren were involved in. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Lucia is survived by her daughter, Karin (John) Carpenter of Dayton, two sons, Major Timothy (Sarah) Fary, USA, Retired, and Daniel (Maria) Fary of Chattanooga and her brother, Noel Spencer, along with her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lucia’s special talent was making friends into family. She embraced and adopted students, singles, and whole families into her heart and life, becoming Aunt Lucia and Grammy to many of them.
Funeral services for Lucia will be held Sunday, March 5, at 3 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carter Johnson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery next to her husband.
Please share your memories of Lucia on her online guest book at www.vanderwallfh.com.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church building fund.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Saturday, from 4-7 p.m.
