James Edwin Card, Sr., 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on March 26, 2023.

James was born July 13, 1937, in Apison, Tn.. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1289. James owned his own auto repair/body shop and managed several dealership’s body shops in the area. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and golfer. James and his wife, Betty, are members of GraceWorks Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maudine (Hall) Card.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Betty D. Card; his son, James E. (Carla) Card, Jr.; his daughters, Angela Card and Diane (Jeff) Holmes; his stepson, Tim (Bea) Lingerfelt; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Young; and brother, Jerry Card; niece, Paige (Barry) Rogers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, at the funeral home. An inurnment of ashes will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caretakers and nurses, Ruby, Rose, Sylvia, Jessica, and Ann, for their compassionate care for James and his family.
